Plaid for Dad participation skyrockets in third year

Father's Day campaign raises funds for prostate cancer research

July 7, 2017 - TORONTO, ON - Launched for the first time in 2015, Prostate Cancer Canada's (PCC) Plaid for Dad campaign has further established itself as the way Canadians are choosing to give back on Father's Day weekend. Canadian workplaces and individuals once again wore Plaid for Dad on the 'Casual Friday' before Father's Day in support of the many families affected by the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer.

The number of Canadians who wore plaid to raise research funds for prostate cancer rose significantly this year. Over 1,000 workplaces were involved, almost doubling last year's total.

While each participating workplace contributed to the success of the campaign, the 2017 Plaid for Dad National Workplace Champion is the Canadian Trucking Alliance! In recognition of their victory, they will be presented with the presitgious Plaid Vest to display with pride in their workplace until their reign is challenged again next year.

The Canadian Trucking Alliance team raised over $45,000 for prostate cancer research. Congratulations to the team on their victory.

A huge thanks to McCarthy Tétrault and EY National who finished second and third, respectively, in Plaid for Dad workplace fundraising.

It's the perfect opportunity to support this cause that impacts all Canadians," explained PCC's President and CEO, Rocco Rossi. "The growth in Plaid for Dad pariticpation is a clear message from Canadians -- we are recognizing that prostate cancer is a real threat to the men we love, and we're doing something about it."
