Resources

If you (or a loved one) have just been diagnosed with prostate cancer, you're probably experiencing a wide range of emotions, including feelings of helplessness, hopelessness and uncertainty about the future. Fear, denial, anger and a feeling of loss of control over your life are also normal and understandable reactions.

You can start to deal with the fear that underlies many of these feelings by educating yourself about prostate cancer. The fact that you are reading this site is a good first step. Increasing your knowledge about the disease will help relieve your natural fear of the unknown. It will also make it easier for you to make the decisions that are right for you as you move forward through your treatment.

There are also medical and support resources to help you and your family cope with the mental, psychological and emotional impact of prostate cancer.

The good news is that most prostate cancers are slow-growing and with the new technologies and treatments available, the disease can be controlled for many years. If detected early enough, it may even be cured.
